As a matter of fact, it's one of the most rewarding parts of Halo multiplayer, because it gives the user/player a feeling of power and a memory to carry into their future games. Halo is not hurt for having weapons that can cause big swings. Even the mangler, when it became problematic, they decided to nerf melee instead of rebalancing the mangler.

I imagine the designers are afraid of usurping BR dominance because of the pro scene. The sandbox has been balanced around high precision weapons and very few weapons can challenge the BR in a headsup. The Commando? An automatic that is way too challenging to track with, but with a mouse and semi-auto fire is dangerous, they work only in an ambush. Look at the plasma rifle, stuck to a burst with slow tracking projectiles. They're afraid of making any weapon 'overpowered' and instead gimp everywhere, again, except for the BR. The game is lacking in weapon variety (in every category) and boils down to the BR. Halo Infinite Season 2 introduces no new weapons to the games multiplayer, nor its single-player campaign. Halo Infinite plays the best of their games, maybe Halo ever, but Infinite's sandbox is easily the most boring and lopsided.

Hahaha, please don't take my comment as some sort of endorsement of 343's design choices around the sandbox. The Banished LMG is also likely to feel more unique then the SAW does if only because it'd be shock and would be banished, vs the SAW sorta feeling close to the AR already. It'd still be a super high ROF, spray based weapon that absolutely shreds people with a high magazine count at the cost of a slow reload like the SAW does, but because it's duel wielded, you have unique pros (being able to do the reloads seperately to keep firing one of the two SMG's nonstop) and cons (losing your ability to throw grenades with it out). To /u/IDeliveredYourPizza 's point about the SAW, I can't help but feel like you could make a more interesting version of the weapon by having the SMG be permanantly duel wielded instead. I totally agree that the Halo 5 weapon varients added a lot, they were a low-cost way to add a lot of sandbox variety with unique mechanics and ideas without needing to design whole brand new weapons.īut I don't see what a lot of classic weapons like the Beam Rifle or DMR or Carbine or Spiker etc add: Those were all sorts of clones of existing weapons, and Halo Infinite already has guns like the Stalker Rifle, Commando, etc that are more unique takes on a Covenant sniper and a rapid fire precision rifle etc then the Beam Rifle and Carbine ever were.
